Cosmetic clays

Les Argiles du Soleil clays are renowned in many countries around the world for their unique composition and outstanding qualities.

Our clays are sun-dried in a place that gets at least 300 days of sunshine per year.

How to use our clays :

When clay is mixed with water, the clay particles swell up to create a paste that has an enormous capacity of absorption. This paste binds together any dirt and debris as well as excessive oil, acting like an ink blotter to cleanse it away without stripping the skin or hair of its protective natural layer.

Put a quantity of clay, according to your specific needs, in a glass or porcelain jar. Mix the clay with water or flower water, with a wooden spoon to obtain smooth dough. One measure of clay for 1 ½ measure of water (if too dry, add some water and, if too liquid add some clay to make a paste with the consistency of a yogurt. Never use metallic objects. It is better to use wooden, plastic or ceramic.

It is a good idea to use occasionally another kind of clay (a illite clay for example) to avoid habituation as much as possible.

Mask: Apply the paste in a thick layer to moist face avoiding the eyes and lips area. Before drying, rinse thoroughly and delicately with fresh water (no rubbing). Do not allow the clay to dry on your skin. If necessary, apply some water directly onto the mask using your fingers to keep it wet.

You can try one of these options:

· Replace the water by an herbal infusion or flower water (Chamomile Flower, Lavender Flower, rose water...) or green tea.

· Add 1 tsp. of coconut oil.

· Add 2 tsp. of fresh orange juice

· Add 2 tsp. of Aloe Vera

Baths: Dilute 150 g of clay in the bath water. Relax, and then rinse with clear water.

Facial clay cleanser: The clay cleanser is prepared by diluting 1 tbsp of clay in a glass of water. After sedimentation, the water is used as a cleanser.

This clay cleanser is a good way to energize your face in the morning as it removes dirt, sweat, excess sebum, cosmetics, dead skin cells, bacteria, and any pollutants that come in contact with your skin.

Poultices: To treat sore muscles apply a thick layer of the clay on the body and cover with tissue. Leave for 30 to 60 minutes, and then rinse with clear water.

Option: Gently heat the clay in the sun (never use another method of heating) before use. Apply warming clay on affected areas and wait 40 minutes, and then rinse with clear water.

First aid for scratches, bruises, cuts, wounds, bites, sunburns: Gently pat on area with the clay in paste the moment after impact of bump, bruise, cut, bite, scrape, etc. It calms down the pain and because it cleans the wound, it encourages faster and better healing.
